The Laboratory of Opinion Research (LORE) is an organization at the University of Gothenburg that carries out data collection through web surveys, in particular with focus on experiments and panel data studies. LORE aims to be a one-stop service organization for researchers at the University of Gothenburg, and other universities, who want to collect survey data through the internet.
With its research and data collection, LORE complements and contributes to the development of Swedish research on democracy, public opinion and political behavior as well as social science research in general. In addition to being an efficient service organization for the collection of online surveys, LORE has the ambition to contribute to the methodological development of survey research in a time when the conditions for such research are rapidly changing. LORE is primarily funded by user fees and is located at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication at the University of Gothenburg.
LORE mainly collects data through web panels. Around 55,000 respondents are active in the Citizen Panel, the largest of the panels run by LORE. The Politician Panel and the Journalist Panel are examples of panels run in collaboration with LORE. The size and variety of composition of the panels makes for a great platform to collect data for research and the development of research methodology.
More information about our research or the web panels can be found under the tab Surveys. If you want to know more about how to collaborate with LORE or how to use LORE for collecting survey data you can read more about this under the tab Collaboration.
